The goal for Burney was a warm modern aesthetic and a functional floor plan. We wanted to honor the neighborhood aesthetic that developed in the 1950s. We chose materials rooted in mid-century design, then gave both the architecture and the interiors a modern interpretation, so the house feels connected to its surroundings while standing on its own.
Standout details include freestanding, angled white oak pillars at the front entry, a double-sided fireplace shared by the living room and patio, and a pass-through sliding window from the kitchen to the outdoor living area.
